About Us

ASK Life is a private foundation created with the goal of providing educational resources and support to underprivileged children. Our mission statement, “It takes little contribution to make a lasting effect,” is focused on providing quality education to rural India and other worldwide nations. We believe our children are the change we wish to see in the world and emphasize the importance of providing positive attachment in childhood stages to cultivate a drug-free and educational-based society.

ASK Life was founded by Dr. Kandaswamy Jayaraj and Asha Jayaraj to guide children in human development and constant educational improvement. The foundation and its name are dedicated in remembrance of the late A. S. Kandaswamy as a legacy from his son and daughter-in-law.

We believe education is the primary need for a human being’s betterment and that knowledge is power to change the world. Our vision is to “Live life, not a lifestyle” as we strive to cultivate that in younger generations to lead a peaceful, satisfied life supported by education and learning. With guidance and resources, ASK Life aims to help young adults develop into goal-oriented leaders who will one day make a difference in our society.

ASK Life foundation is currently involved in funding projects alongside the following organizations:

Isha Vidhya

Isha Vidhya is a pioneering education initiative that seeks to transform the lives of India’s rural poor. It was established in 2006 (under the umbrella of Isha Education trust) towards building an India where high-quality school education is accessible and affordable to all, especially for rural underprivileged children. Isha Vidhya's rural schools provide a scalable model for delivering quality education within the limitations of underdeveloped rural communities. Children are given a holistic and nurturing environment to realize their full potential and learn in a joyful manner. Isha Vidhya also carries out critical interventions to support government schools, which bring about significant enhancements in the education quality and has the potential to trigger an overall change in the public education system.

IMHO

Due to the unique nature of the organization, IMHO is primarily focused on impoverished and disadvantaged regions of Sri Lanka, where marginalized populations have endured conflict, poverty, and other hardships. IMHO works through an extensive network of contacts on the ground, including local doctors, health care officials, and other grassroots organizations in identifying health needs, and then providing resources and training to accommodate those needs. Over the years IMHO has also contributed to urgent emergency relief efforts in Burma, Bangladesh, DR Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Haiti, India, Indonesia, Japan, Pakistan, the Philippines, Somalia, Canada, and USA.

School4Change

School4Change, commonly known as The Night School, is a tuition facility where students come in the evenings and remain for a few hours. We amuse and engage students by teaching them life skills, instilling moral values, and sharing real-world tales. We not only teach students life skills, but we also provide their parents with the experience of learning how to manage their children gently.

Sankara Eye foundation

Globally, at least 2.2 billion people have a vision impairment or blindness, of which at least 1 billion cases of vision impairment could have been prevented or are yet to be addressed. Nearly 30% of the world’s blind and vision-impaired live in South East Asia. (WHO, World Sight Day statement). Nearly 40 million people in India, including 1.6 million children, are blind or visually impaired. (The Tribune) Fortunately, nearly 80% of them can easily be cured if they can receive proper treatment. This is where Sankara Eye Foundation makes a difference. Sankara Eye Foundation's mission is to prevent blindness and eradicate curable blindness.

Southeast Texas Nonprofit Development Center

A local group of funders had a vision of an organization that would nurture a community of strong nonprofits to improve and transform the quality of life in Southeast Texas. The Center would provide management support services to nonprofits and funders enabling them to effectively serve the surrounding counties. This vision became a reality in April 2008, as the Southeast Texas Nonprofit Development Center opened its doors to serve the community. The mission of the Southeast Texas Nonprofit Development Center is to provide quality management support services to nonprofits and funders, enabling them to effectively serve the community.

How can I help?: ASK Life is not looking for donations, but if you would like to help out, you are more than welcome to donate to those causes that ASK Life is supporting, as our goal is to fund those charities with minimal operating costs.
When was ASK Life founded?: ASK Life was founded in 2021, but was made reachable via the web in 2023.
Why is it called ASK Life?: A. S. K. are the initials of Dr. Jayaraj's father. The ASK Life logo is also the first initial of his fathers name using the Tamil letter எ.
